How do I prevent brush from being reapplied to line segments?

hi there

what i'm doing applying brush line-segment , dividing line segment pieces of varying lengths using anchor points.

what happens long line segments show brush perfectly, shorter line segments "squashing" entire brush 1 short segment

so example i'm trying create logo hand-drawn lines - longer pieces of logo perfect brush, shorter pieces squiggly because whole brush being squashed down length of small line segment.

i've tried brush options , i've tried options of selected object. setting proportion doesn't help, because smaller line segments end thinner rest , if set thickness same effect back.

is there way can set full length of line brush, illustrator doesn't re-apply same brush effect every time segment line?

i.e. cut line without reapplying brush each segment.

any answers appreciated!

hi there,

do line segments need remain editable? if not, can expand brush stroke , use knife tool cut stroke.

1) create stroke:

2) object > expand appearance:

3) use knife tool segment object (option + shift gives straight line):
