Jump multiple layers to new layers?

the scenario have 2 items on top layer (lets left , rights of pair of earrings), , accompannying shadows on layer below. i'd able highlight both layers, draw marquee around right side earring (top layer) , shadow (bottom layer), , cdm+shift+j them each own new layers, making 4 layers: left earring, left shadow, right earring, right shadow.

 

this doesn't work, quickest way accomplish same thing?

 

on related note, 1 slow down doing each layer @ time command: cmd+shift+d, renew last selection, works sporadically me (sometimes doesn't renew selection @ all). rules when should work , when shouldn't?

a workaround unreloadable vanished selection first save selection alpha channel (there's little button @ bottom of channels panel) selection can restored @ time cmd/ctrl-clicking channel's thumbnail.

 

i reported problem of selections not being reloadable after cut or copy new layer, don't know whether has been noted adobe. thread might fixed next update.

After Effect warning: A problem occurred when processing OpenGL commands

i have after effects cs6 in computer cs5.5 installed. 64bit windows 7 ultimate 20gb memory , 2 amd radeon hd 6900 series display adapters drivers updated hour ago (driver date 27.7.2012, version 8.982.0.0).   when trying use after ecffects, error message " after effect warning: problem occurred when processing opengl commands " when clicking composition window.   what done? not much, i'm afraid. need older graphics driver. other disable second card or play configuration. unfortunately not smart person decided cs6 no longer need manual opengl control user, there's no way suppress within program force-revert software-only modes in case of such issues...   mylenium More discussions in After Effects adobe
