Thread: Dual monitor woes

hi all,

having lot of trouble using external monitor natty.
had no issues under 10.10.

whether logged in unity, classic or classic (no effects) session, plugging in external monitor causes system hang - both screens become black, mouse pointer. open windows appear still there "underneath" in cursor changes (eg pointer resize pointer text box cursor style pointer etc).
way can dual monitors work having monitor plugged in when turn on laptop. however, if unplug monitor after booting in way, system hangs.
it's incredibly frustrating because have perform hard shutdown whenever happens.

have intel graphics card , using open source drivers.
