Thread: How do I prevent hard drive from clicking?

i have acer aspire 5736z laptop running on ubuntu 10.10 64-bit version. has western digital hard drive, not know exact model of it.

when running on battery power, hard drive clicks every 5 - 10 seconds. not if plugged in, , have no idea why. in ubuntu (and use term "only" loosely, it's linux distro have ran off hard drive), , not in windows.

feel though may have power saving.

how can prevent hard drive clicking?

in advance!
