Thread: TV on ubuntu driving me insane!

hi all,
newbie ubuntu & whole linux os, love , feel of 11.04. have struggled answers question trying last time before returning (regrettably) windows 7.

have around 8 aopen mp45-du mini pc's use same dvb-t card (mc770a hybrid). ubuntu works pretty @ glance- devices seem work right away machine except dvb-t card.

impressively after installing ubuntu , clicking "additional drivers" picks there dvb-t card installed , offers download it. activate firmware- thats not end of troubles.

dvb-t still not function @ all, have tried players vlc kaffeine metv , many many many more (including myth)

anywho, use avermedia/yuan mc770 card or has had experience solving issue before.

using latest version of ubuntu , quite interested in paying (if available) solve remotely me. gain movement (pm me if want)

real shame have switch windows because couldn't tv cards working on these things

a quick check on linuxtv.org (where support comes from) reveals pd770a not supported
stk7700ph supported.

model mc770a-hybrid not mentioned anywhere...
same pd770a (not supported)

have read dvb part work not analogue (not great loss).

models seem use same usb ids in best tradition of cheap asian manufacturers.

in dmesg
don't see firmware being loaded.
"firmware images xc3028-v27.fw"

have added linux non-free firmware package in synaptic manager (not in gnome drivers jockey toy) ?

afiak recent kernels have dropped v4l (1) support, has required drivers updated.
try 10.04 or 10.10.
