Future of People Joomla Org - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support

in may 2010, people.joomla.org website (pjo or jpeople), built on jomsocial, launched beta see if social media sides of joomla centralised. provided home joomla user groups, developer fan clubs , various communication channels joomla teams.

recent changes on joomla family sites such events team getting own subsite, jug team relaxing rule on forcing people have listing on pjo, community blog posts discussions moving forum , impending release of 2.5 earlier year, moderation team asked community suggestions of how improve site.

community comments received on why pjo didn't work.

already got facebook
there [youtube] channel joomla
moderation heavy handed
to spam/spam not sorted quick enough
developers using site bypass jed , jconnect - eg when banned
everyone land grabbed , best names gone
jomsocial hard understand , update
site confusing

with mind, ability create new groups , register new members removed.

this had strange side effect in fact not did fly posters , spammers [the majority of registrants] people signed , never returned ceased.

only handful of posts on forum asking why site has disabled registration has shown site in current state not fit purpose or interest.

therefore after careful considering responses community it has been decided close site , archive content effective november 30th 2012.

this enable interested users copy content may find useful. repeat content not deleted, archived future reference , use project sees fit.

solutions existing users are:

jugs - update details on community.joomla.org , link suitable site.
jug events - use events.joomla.org
developer fan clubs - no suitable on project sites exist.
joomla facebook - http://www.facebook.com/joomla
twitter - https://twitter.com/#!/joomla
http://www.[youtube].com/user/joomla

the decision close jpeople agreed clt
