Permanently showing paths without stroke or fill

returning illustrator after not using long time.

how can permanently show paths created example pen tool when create them no fill or stroke attributes - example set of contours?

if set view outline (control + y puts them on white background meaning can't see underlying layers.

what doing wrong?

you can set layers outline mode individually.

hold command (mac) or ctrl (win) key , click visibility eyeball icon next layer name in layers panel.
