Thread: Black screen + hang after 11.04 install...HELP!

i'm @ wit's end nasty narwhal. maverick masterpiece; 11.04 feels enormous, disappointing step backward.

/rant, , on issue...

no matter try, can't 11.04 boot way after fresh install , installation of nvidia drivers. i'm using amd64 version on athlon64 x2 cpu.

have use "nomodeset" option livecd working (which believe should not have - major bug!!). once that's up, can install onto hard drive without issue. reboot, hold shift enter grub , use "nomodeset" once again, , can boot installed system. open system -> administration -> additional drivers , install both of nvidia graphics drivers listed (i tried installing 1 driver, same results). reboot, empty purple screen, empty black screen, , hangs , won't go farther that. using "nomodeset" doesn't more @ point.

have no idea do, , i'm frustrated , disappointed version of ubuntu. i've been loyal ubuntu user , evangelist since feisty, , i've never seen release buggy one. it's sad.

can offer wonderful. want working system!

does happen after bios screen or see boot screen?
if occurs after installing nvidia drivers, can post graphic card info , versions of nvidia drivers installed?

After Effect warning: A problem occurred when processing OpenGL commands

i have after effects cs6 in computer cs5.5 installed. 64bit windows 7 ultimate 20gb memory , 2 amd radeon hd 6900 series display adapters drivers updated hour ago (driver date 27.7.2012, version 8.982.0.0).   when trying use after ecffects, error message " after effect warning: problem occurred when processing opengl commands " when clicking composition window.   what done? not much, i'm afraid. need older graphics driver. other disable second card or play configuration. unfortunately not smart person decided cs6 no longer need manual opengl control user, there's no way suppress within program force-revert software-only modes in case of such issues...   mylenium More discussions in After Effects adobe
