Thread: External monitor not detected and laptop display turns off

hello,

may common issue @ loss finding way of looking understand.

trying connect laptop external monitor, either using external main display or using both displays in extended desktop.

problem:

trying detect external monitor, trying switch between displays, booting external monitor plugged result in following:

1. external monitor remains on standby
2. laptop display turns off
3. can't revert , laptop display have hard shut down (i think in cases ctrl+shift+delete & return worked)

so, how attach external display , either switch between laptop , external or use both?

dell latitude e4310
ubuntu 10.10
installed 10.10 deb after fresh install of 10.04. ironically, had because in 10.04 use external monitor...

edit: well, maybe i'm idiot... seeing this? (honestly, use 'yes' answer if that's case... )

  • external monitor connected via displayport not recognized when using nouveau driver. (655800)

After Effect warning: A problem occurred when processing OpenGL commands

i have after effects cs6 in computer cs5.5 installed. 64bit windows 7 ultimate 20gb memory , 2 amd radeon hd 6900 series display adapters drivers updated hour ago (driver date 27.7.2012, version 8.982.0.0).   when trying use after ecffects, error message " after effect warning: problem occurred when processing opengl commands " when clicking composition window.   what done? not much, i'm afraid. need older graphics driver. other disable second card or play configuration. unfortunately not smart person decided cs6 no longer need manual opengl control user, there's no way suppress within program force-revert software-only modes in case of such issues...   mylenium More discussions in After Effects adobe
