Thread: System will not boot, HDD failure?

this started happening after recent update reboot necessary. freeze @ "loading grub" screen, able hit esc , work around that. used option in recovery mode menu repair grub & file system apparently did nothing worsen issue esc nothing freeze system when hit @ "loading grub" screen.

i've attempted trying boot external hdd, usb stick, & external optical drive i'm working hp dv6000 unfortunate hardware issue on-board optical drive fails recognized. attempts have resulted in blurry icon @ bottom of black screen looks rectangular outline solid rectangle within, letter "h" in solid rectangle, & dashes above solid rectangle; followed equal sign , circle stick figure within said circle.

there's been amiss original install installed 10.04, when go system monitoring show variants 9.04 on.

ideas? possible hdd failure perhaps?

i have after effects cs6 in computer cs5.5 installed. 64bit windows 7 ultimate 20gb memory , 2 amd radeon hd 6900 series display adapters drivers updated hour ago (driver date 27.7.2012, version 8.982.0.0).   when trying use after ecffects, error message " after effect warning: problem occurred when processing opengl commands " when clicking composition window.   what done? not much, i'm afraid. need older graphics driver. other disable second card or play configuration. unfortunately not smart person decided cs6 no longer need manual opengl control user, there's no way suppress within program force-revert software-only modes in case of such issues...   mylenium More discussions in After Effects adobe
