Thread: Update Manager: "Failed to download repository information"

on desktop, see red triangle exclamation mark in it, next date @ top of screen. double-clicking on brings update manager, displays following message:

"software updates may available computer. the package information last updated 11 days ago. press 'check' button below check new software updates."

after pressing 'check' button, window appears title "updating cache". window appears in place, saying:

"failed download repository information check internet connection."

there's details field says:

code:

w:failed fetch http://skulltag.net/download/files/release/deb/dists/stable/multiverse/source/sources  404  not found , e:some index files failed download. have been ignored, or old ones used instead.

i have had no trouble internet connection. what's gone wrong here?

open terminal , type:
sudo apt-get update
have enter password. after finished checking repositories, can type:
sudo apt-get upgrade
