Thread: vsftpd - users that have no /home directory?

hi

have vsftpd running on server, opened local users.

when set samba on server added 2 users enable them access samba shares on server.

1. if either of these users try login ftp server refused, because don't have home directory. have have 1 vsftpd?

2. how set user list (if can)for vsftpd doesn't rely on system users? (i found add file users, gave user names , not passwords, guessing restrictive list on system users?)

3. how restrict directories in vsftpd (i don't mean /home directory only). seems on server available? have partition @ /media/data - want sharing via ftp.

i recommend pure-ftpd instead. found easiest setup.

can create virtual users , have them run under ftpuser:ftpgroup.
