Converting AVCHD to another format (slow PC)

hi all, hope can help.  have searched forum , couldn't find quite right answer question.

i have panasonic hdc-sd80 video camera shoots in 1920 x 1080i @ 60 fps.  has following options:

ha, hg, hx, he

i have no idea difference these make, first question of course "what difference these settings make.

more importantly, aware adobe premiere elements not support 60fps.  added aware pc (2ghz, 4gb ram, windows 7) under hefty strain trying @ all.

i not bothered high quality video, standard tv resolution (non hd) fine honest!  such, can suggest way of converting files have format suitable editing specs in elements 10?

i keep copies in hd format future (when may have better pc etc), right want edit stuff simple home movies , short fun films, don't care best ever quality, long looks ok on telly when played.

thanks in advance!

adam

premiere elements indeed support 1920x1080i avchd @ 60 fps, adam. it's 1920x1080p avchd doesn't yet support. (techncially, 60i fps 30 complete fps while 60p 60 complete fps.)

just make sure you're shooting 60i @ hg, ha or hx quality , should fine. (those letters different levels of picture quality. it's find acceptable.)

your bigger challenge going editing avchd dual-core 2 ghz machine. might able degree, @ least version 10 -- may find comptuer lugging if work on bigger project.
