Looking for a great way to search for a string throughout a large number of InDesign files.

i'm trying find great way search string throughout large number of indesign files, 7500, across many directories without having open each individual file.

 

for microsoft word files can use standard search , search in word documents without having open each individual file. search seems quick , results pretty precise.

 

the closest i've come converting idml file , searching string oxygen. i'd prefer little more direct , lot quicker.

 

is there tool similar functionality indesign?

i don't remember if bridge can or not. don't know if work - said didn't want open 7500 files - when needed search 3000 different id files scattered across network drive, i:

 

1) ran search in explorer indds

2) dropped of results of search id

3) used find/change dialog search in "all documents."

 

my machine ran in mudbath while, did find mystery phrase.

 

markzware has mac-only tool called pagezephyr sounds want.
