Run into "connection has timed out" so unable to access site - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support

i have been adding lot of new content (and therefore lot of new categories). have hit problem numerous times on last week (back end , front) , wonder if may due large number of categories (i have on 1000+). there limit? i've been adding lot lately , wonder if may problem. have categories country, state, schools in order automatically generate menus yearbooks in various locations.

example of categories:

usa
...dc
......central high school
.........1920
......eastern high school
.....
...va
......james madision high school
......
(all states listed...)
japan
.....
(so have 5 levels)

has had experience? after amount of time, clears , can in, try create page, spins , spins , times out , produces 'can't load page errors' or 'connection has timed out'. have no problem going other sites, know specific url.

i'm using joomla 1.7

the actual error is:

the connection has timed out

server @ http://www.mysite.com taking long respond.

it happening every time go add new page via backend or frontend

it's possible host's server getting bogged down. i'd check support see if can tell if site causing resources drain. hosts either move server can handle load, or suggest upgrade server can handle load. it's possible may need pay bit more per month, sounds site worth that.
