i have installed mapsource 6.16.3 in wine 1.3.22, installation worked, , i'm able view maps , things, have installed mapsource send maps (from openstreetmap) garmin gps (nĂ¼vi 1390).

according different tutorials , tips have read, should see gps /dev/ttyusb0, when plug usb in, see hdd. /dev before plugin gps:

code:

and after have plugged in gps:

as see, there devices (most notably sdb , sdc), nothing looks /dev/ttyusb0. tutorials suggest
code:
sudo modprobe garmin_gps
to make appear /dev/ttyusb0, did change nothing @ all.

once have ttyusb0, should make softlink com0 port of wine device. connect mapsource gps. since don't have ttyusb0, can't make softlink.

if can make appear /dev/ttyusb0 or knows way put maps on (without removing maps on it), please tell me.

tldr: gps should show /dev/ttyusb0, doesn't.

the articles "ttyusb0" first generation garmin gps units have usb connection gpsmap76c. require garmin usb driver communicate mapsource. after garmin used usb mass storage (shows drive on computer) no proprietary driver needed.

on desktop, nuvi 750 worked mapsource in ubuntu 10.04. in ubuntu 11.04 on netbook (also had problem earlier version of ubuntu), mapsource couldn't find nuvi.

problem wine not detecting nuvi flash drive.

plug in nuvi, let mount , run configure wine , under drives tab nuvi. mine called garmin on desktop shows garmin in wine configuration.

isn't listed , autodetect button won't find either. if listed may not work yet.

if nuvi isn't in list of drives click add button , add drive letter.

next click browse button , browse /media folder, , highlight, don't open nuvi drive. click ok. drive e: /media/garmin/ example.

click show advanced button , type: change floppy disk.
note: not work unless drive type floppy disk.

apply changes , mapsource find nuvi , persistent won't need add in wine configuration again.
