Thread: Modular 5.1 Surround Sound
i have been looking @ replacing old, buzzing, popping , crackling 5.1 system new one. satellite speakers fine, it's sub bust has brought me onto thinking there way build 5.1 system individual component speakers. way can replace sub (and center, since had proprietary connection plugs sub) , gain few more years out satellites. means rather spending hundred quid or on entry level 5.1 system spend on better subwoofer.
guess deal systems seem have soundcard outputting front, rear, centre , sub 1 of speakers send rest (amplifier?). instead skip part send 1 speaker , rest , instead send front speakers, rear speakers, center , sub directly output on soundcard's trs outputs (if required through separately bought amplifier , on speakers).
@ least if front speakers go bust, can replace them
if rears go bust, them
sub, that,
center, that, etc.
possible?
suggestions?
front speakers both joined 2 wires going single 3.5mm trs jack, same rears. if replace sub , center, there reason why couldn't use these sets still (if either plugged directly sound card or amplifier sound card)
cheers,
matt
