Thread: Unity Test on the public

i took system76 laptop public ubuntu 11.04 , unity reactions os. here results, might travel different area , video review of it. when presented them, presented brand new product, doing market research see if sell.

tested on around 200 people
76% of people had immediate response of being lost , not knowing do. couldn't figure out how use global menu, in applications , how in libreoffice in application. said "confusing". actually:

83% had immediate response "confusing".

small percentage said reminded them of cheap mac knock off, , should research "copyright infringement". owned macs @ home , apple should see this.

20% had non-plus reaction it. seemed work fine, why reinvent wheel?

nobody compared windows, there 3 people did. type of people wouldn't own cellphone because landlines suffice. not intended audience this.

while responses not entirely negative, people had oddly positive response. ones thought "confusing" seemed it, said needed work.

"the menu top should not disappear" seemed ressurecting response global menu. liked side bar, wanted move right felt out of place on left, or icons should auto-sort right sake of keeping things neat , tidy.

when interviewed people said confusing, responded how bar anchored left, bottom/left better place it. menu keeps dissappearing. full screen menu, , scrolling through makes no sense big. wanted icons smaller. likened cellphone os on computer.

nobody became frustrated, however, , seemed call fun , inventive. "a joy use". fact still "in market research, of annoyances presumably fixed."

informative , tought me lot. since driven new users, keep work forward testing on 11.10. have little more faith in developed unity, , had fun this. kinda can't wait again.
