Thread: VirtualBox Windows and Ubuntu: Proper Configuration?

i'm new i7-2600 machine @ work , trying figure out how best arrange os's , hard disk partitions. thinking putting windows (already on system) , ubuntu on separate partitions running ubuntu (from disk partition) via virtualbox in windows. love people's views on whether approach.

new hardware not play nice pure ubuntu os--am guessing sleep, hibernate , forth crash machine, , new graphics card , other components may not work. of course check flash boot disk. it's have windows around purposes.

so, suspect need run windows able use machine's hardware. time ubuntu may able handle machine's hardware , i'd able switch pure ubuntu.

things i'm wondering: else have arrangement this? work & there drawbacks? know whether mapping (oracle) virtualbox ubuntu disk partition rather virtual hard disk cause problems when upgrade virtualbox? advice on software use set this? machine come windows. i'll need repartition disk. guess use gparted live flash drive, last time used gparted, created overlap between partitions apparently serious problem. and, anywhere can find out how set dual-boot windows / ubuntu machine? wonder whether grub2 used. mapping ubuntu partition vbox, i've seen instructions here (hope ones!): http://www.sysprobs.com/access-physi...ation-software
