Thread: Wrong resolution on startup with Ubuntu 11.04 on a Toshiba Satellite Pro L500

i installed ubuntu 11.04 on (brother's) laptop (toshiba satellite pro l500. have listed few monitor specs @ bottom, wasn't sure for.)
, when turn on, wrong resolution. starts 1024x768 (4:3) black bars instead of 1366x768 (16:9). when start programs appear in black sides (and "unreachable") though realised screen 16:10. after few minutes adjusts correct resolution, it's terribly annoying.

thought making 10-monitor.conf file (i found out xorg.conf no longer used in 11.04. http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1730188 ) correct resolution (and no other options maybe?) force start properly. have never done before, , hoping there "automatic" way of making file, like
code:
~$ sudo xorg -configure
which don't know how use anyways, , error message:
fatal server error:
server active display 0
...
thanks in advance, ubut

code:
~$ xrandr screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1366 x 768, maximum 8192 x 8192 lvds1 connected 1366x768+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 344mm x 194mm 1366x768 60.0*+ 1360x768 59.8 60.0 1024x768 60.0 800x600 60.3 56.2 640x480 59.9 vga1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) hdmi1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) dp1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) dp2 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) tv1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
code:
~$ lspci | grep vga 00:02.0 vga compatible controller: intel corporation mobile 4 series chipset integrated graphics controller (rev 07)
