Thread: Error creating directory: No space left on device

i have load of files on usb stick duplicated on sd card. i've added couple of small files stick, shows having 29.9gb of 32gb used. however, when tried copy same files card, received message < error creating directory: no space left on device >. card contains same files. deleted 6gb , still got error message when tried copy new files over, though card shows having 26.3gb used out of 33gb. why getting message?

welcome ubuntu forums.

1 reason may deleted files still in trash bin. trash bin must emptied before space freed up. try right clicking trash bin see if emptying solves problem.

if doesn't, open file browser , folder on device called .trash-1000 (or similar). note it's hidden folder. contains deleted files well. inspect contents, can delete shift-del.

here guide on other disk space issues affect users , how resolve them:
