Thread: Help cloning my hard drive, what to do with System_drv partition

i'm new ubuntu/linux, sorry if of overly obvious...

have lenovo thinkpad t400 have wanted install ubuntu along side windows 7 on while, i've had problems doing this. figured out because hd has on 5 bad sectors (according gparted). recommends "make full backup urgently running 'ntfsclone --rescue..."

started research on how use ntfsclone , came across this:
http://edoceo.com/exemplar/ntfsclone-transfer-windows

doesn't seem extremely hard follow, have few questions before start. drive in laptop separated 2 partitions, system_drv (1.17 gib) , windows7_os (147.88 gib). system_drv partition flagged "boot".

question this: how use ntfsclone clone hard drive, when instructions found seem written hd 1 partition? also, once clone hd, how put on different laptop hd can boot cpu from?

can give, , sorry if these overly obvious questions...
