Thread: Is a /boot partition required for dual booting windows 7 with ubuntu

is /boot partition required dual booting windows ubuntu?

quite confused after googling this.

2 partitions enough. '/' partition @ beginning , 'swap' partition @ end.

(some single / partition enough. see here)

others ask create 4.
/boot (for programs critical booting)
swap (space virtual memory)
/ (root directory, installing programs used running system)
/home (for saving files)
understand /home optional, /boot required?
there 100 mb of space in front of windows partition. think that boot partition.

can proceed installation of / partition or should use both / , swap partitions?

if let ubuntu handle install set automatically you. if wanted separate "/home" partition have manually. no "/boot" partition not necessary.
