Thread: My Webcam (Acer Crystal Eye) is not being detected.
i've been having few problems lately. couldn't use it, still being detected hardinfo , when typed lsusb, came in list of available devices. strange reason, cheese couldn't use it, tried using luvcview instead, find path /dev/video0 didn't exist. changed name of /dev/video1 /dev/video0; thereupon, use webcam luvcview fine, did test call google talk, , see myself fine, froze when moved screen. did second call, , few seconds in, image froze again, , cam isn't being recognized hardinfo or lsusb now.
suggestions? issue hardware originated, or think might have had fact changed /dev/video0 video 1?
also, i'm on natty narwhal 11.04.
edit: i'm getting when type "lsusb":
bus 005 device 001: id 1d6b:0001 linux foundation 1.1 root hub
bus 004 device 001: id 1d6b:0001 linux foundation 1.1 root hub
bus 003 device 001: id 1d6b:0001 linux foundation 1.1 root hub
bus 002 device 001: id 1d6b:0001 linux foundation 1.1 root hub
bus 001 device 001: id 1d6b:0002 linux foundation 2.0 root hub
webcam used on bus 005, might there slight chance it's still being recognized?
edit 2: after doing "lsusb" several times found webcam can recognized on positions of screen. looks issue hardware-related. solved.
in terminal type dmesg click enter
