Thread: Upgrading Windows 7 while having Ubuntu 10.10 installed


hi all,this first post.
have windows 7 home premium 32 bit installed on pc,dual boot ubuntu 10.10. boot screen windows one,not grub.recently,i noticed eligible via msdnaa free copy of windows 7 pro 64 bit.needless downloaded it,since have i5 750 cpu , 4gb of ram.i want know if can install in windows partition without hurting ubuntu install @ all,since have important files there.the thing afraid of since boot screen windows, may cause problem @ new install,causing not recognize ubuntu partition(same hard drive way).is possible,or can go ahead , install?

how installed ubuntu going deciding factor.

if did wubi install inside windows installing new windows on old 1 going wipe everything.

if did normal install of ubuntu ie. using separate partition go ahead , install after backing private files (docs, photos , such-like) in case goes wrong. after install boot livecd , use upgrade grub. ask in forum instructions on how , them.
