Reduced DVD image size with HD to SD footage in Encore
using cs5, when encode sd sequence premiere encore, works well. when downconvert hd project through ame looks fine , shows full screen in encore, when burn dvd , play it, reduced size image in center of screen.
i'm shooting 1080 24p panasonic hpx170 camcorder. create microsoft avi files using on location.
i use matrox mxo2 mini max display unit, i'm using these premiere project settings:
matrox hd
1990x1080
1080p@23.98fps
i'm exporting premiere timeline using recommended settings in jeff bellune cs4 tutorial converting premiere hd footage sd dvd burning
format: mpeg2-dvd
preset ntsc 23.976p widescreen high quality
vbr 2 pass
maximum render quality
min bit rate 2.8
target bit rate 7
max bit rate 8
gop settings m frames 3 n frames12
audio 48 kh pcm 16 bits
multiplexer none
when render files , build project encore, timeline , menu image appears full screen in encore monitor.
when burn project dvd, displays in letterbox on standard def tv.
but, when play dvd on hdtv, great looking picture in proper aspect ratio, displays @ 3/4 size in center of screen black surrounding it. can change display setting on hdtv 'zoom" , fill screen picture without distortion.
i have same issue creating footage @ 1080i 60 fps , 1080p 30 fps , building projects appropriate settings in premiere , encore.
i'm wondering if i'm missing setting in ame or encore. thought i'd followed jeff bellune's excellent instructions on hd sd settings in ame letter.
i'd create dvds play full screen on hdtvs , in letterbox on standard def tvs without viewers having change settings on hdtvs.
fyi, i'm shooting in hd, partially clean keys during edit, using ultra keyer in premiere. works great.
thanks assistance.
it sounds have 4:3 frame 16:9 video has been placed. letterboxing part of full-frame 4:3 image. if display letterboxed 4:3 frame on 16:9 tv, you'll display both letterboxed , pillarboxed -- you're seeing.
go through interpret footage dialog in pr , in en, go though of sequence settings , export settings in pr, , make sure correct par in use in places.
also, set program monitor in pr, monitor panel in en, 100% instead of default "fit". may give hint par getting set incorrectly.
