Thread: Hard Disk Damaged

hi,
have 500 gb hdd on laptop. laptop dual boot vista , karmic.
upgraded natty. after 1 day disk crashed. can not install neither vista nor ubuntu on it.

vista takes 30-45 minutes install on normal laptop. when tried on hard disk- took 4 hours expand 65% files. therefore, aborted operation. vista informed disk faulty , needs replacement.

deleted partitions there 1 partiton of 465 gb. tried install natty. @ time of copying files - says installer crashed. during installation process the massage keeps popping disk reporting health problems. same (installer crashed) happened earlier also.

there no physical damage hdd.

question are:
1- how ensure hard disk damaged?
2- there way correct it?

if able connect computer can use s.m.a.r.t. monitoring tools run scan of disk. full scan take quite while. gsmartcontrol nice graphical frontend smartmontools.

After Effect warning: A problem occurred when processing OpenGL commands

i have after effects cs6 in computer cs5.5 installed. 64bit windows 7 ultimate 20gb memory , 2 amd radeon hd 6900 series display adapters drivers updated hour ago (driver date 27.7.2012, version 8.982.0.0).   when trying use after ecffects, error message " after effect warning: problem occurred when processing opengl commands " when clicking composition window.   what done? not much, i'm afraid. need older graphics driver. other disable second card or play configuration. unfortunately not smart person decided cs6 no longer need manual opengl control user, there's no way suppress within program force-revert software-only modes in case of such issues...   mylenium More discussions in After Effects adobe
