Thread: Test sound, no application sound through front audio socket - 10.04

hi all,

strange one. upgraded mother-in-law's computer 8.04 10.04 via update manager. seems working beautifully except ...

* when run gstreamer-properties , output test test sound through headphones plugged front audio socket of machine using 'analogue headphones' setting in sound preferences. (this rules out dead headphones.)

* when try play audio through app no sound through headphones, if change setting 'analogue output' in sound preferences audio loud , clear through speakers plugged audio socket @ rear of machine.

idea happening? if figure how gstreamer-properties test getting audio front socket guess i'd getting somewhere. have rest of day fix drive 750kms home hoping there might suggestions out there.

incidentally, setup vt1708b chip. gstreamer output test using , alsamixer looking at.

in pulseaudio volume control, under playback, have 2 'alsa plug-in [mplayer]: alsa playback' permanently. seem doing nothing. when open gnome mplayer , play something, new 1 pops up. can play through rear connected speakers not front connected headphones.

After Effect warning: A problem occurred when processing OpenGL commands

i have after effects cs6 in computer cs5.5 installed. 64bit windows 7 ultimate 20gb memory , 2 amd radeon hd 6900 series display adapters drivers updated hour ago (driver date 27.7.2012, version 8.982.0.0).   when trying use after ecffects, error message " after effect warning: problem occurred when processing opengl commands " when clicking composition window.   what done? not much, i'm afraid. need older graphics driver. other disable second card or play configuration. unfortunately not smart person decided cs6 no longer need manual opengl control user, there's no way suppress within program force-revert software-only modes in case of such issues...   mylenium More discussions in After Effects adobe
