Thread: Transfers to RAID array freeze

i'm running ubuntu server 10.04 lts. have 8 data hard drives, each 1 1.5tb, , in raid6 array created mdadm. installed xfs directly on array (i have no need features in lvm), , using samba access server (my server linux machine - other machines windows).

performance great: can saturate gigabit connection on reads, , seem average 85 mb/s on writes.

problem when write data raid array, freezes. clarify, entire system freezes , not respond. ssh windows have open server (from other computers) cease responding. forced cut power system, after raid array resyncs.

have searched problem, , found thread: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=980828. however, participating in thread not seem have solved problem. symptoms same though.

have idea might causing problem, , how might solve it?

edit: have solved problem. editing post in hopes else searching solution.

upgraded 10.04 11.04 , problem went away. prefer stay on lts, there's no point in "stability" if comes crippling bug. anyways, if possible, upgrade version of ubuntu , should fine.

don't know if in way related, last night server (10.10) seize up, in stop responding , num-lock , caps-lock led flash 5 mins transfer samba share.

problem (for me anyway) stick of ram added earlier in day. system worked fine otherwise, 5 mins transfer (up or down) freak hell out , lock up. once pulled ram assume defective, transfer fine.

don't know if it's same problem, sounds similar me. run memtest or remove newly added hardware see if makes difference.

After Effect warning: A problem occurred when processing OpenGL commands

i have after effects cs6 in computer cs5.5 installed. 64bit windows 7 ultimate 20gb memory , 2 amd radeon hd 6900 series display adapters drivers updated hour ago (driver date 27.7.2012, version 8.982.0.0).   when trying use after ecffects, error message " after effect warning: problem occurred when processing opengl commands " when clicking composition window.   what done? not much, i'm afraid. need older graphics driver. other disable second card or play configuration. unfortunately not smart person decided cs6 no longer need manual opengl control user, there's no way suppress within program force-revert software-only modes in case of such issues...   mylenium More discussions in After Effects adobe
