Thread: 10.04LTS vs. latest version

hello,
i'm not clear on difference between lts versions , other versions, think may want go lts. can tell me if thinking correct given following situation:

have cool, expensive software installed group license school, school not going attending longer. want go long possible without reinstalling ubuntu, because once product licensed licensed until reinstall ubuntu (or uninstall program). think going require me keep ubuntu version install long possible.

in case, should go 10.04lts or should install natty narwhal , keep long possible? looks 10.04lts "supported" longer, i'm not clear on "supported" entails. presumable means security , software updates available 10.04lts longer 11.x versions? i'm thinking should go 10.04lts

thinking correct in going 10.04lts?

edit: pointed out against contractual agreements. suppose true. please disregard.

i go 10.04 in case yes.

go 10.04 on 11.04 in case preference thing lol.
