Thread: Alternative to nomodeset?

i managed install ubuntu on toshiba satellite p205. sort of. has 2 issues can see. or maybe one. i'm not sure. anyway, issues way can boot linux first editing grub every time adding "nomodeset" end of line after "quiet splash". works, before edit grub file make permanent i'm wondering if there better way. system uses intel gma 950 chipset, without nomodeset boot black screen. however, have done bit of digging , read things changing "versa", whatever might be. better nomodeset? i'm not terribly proficient on drivers , such bit on head.

also, being told cannot use unity due hardware limitations, not specify limitations. know system sits lacks memory ( 500mb, can add gb if works ). question whether memory throwing flag, or because of nomodeset? in other words, if cannot find better solution nomodeset stuck using classic instead of unity if add more memory?

After Effect warning: A problem occurred when processing OpenGL commands

i have after effects cs6 in computer cs5.5 installed. 64bit windows 7 ultimate 20gb memory , 2 amd radeon hd 6900 series display adapters drivers updated hour ago (driver date 27.7.2012, version 8.982.0.0).   when trying use after ecffects, error message " after effect warning: problem occurred when processing opengl commands " when clicking composition window.   what done? not much, i'm afraid. need older graphics driver. other disable second card or play configuration. unfortunately not smart person decided cs6 no longer need manual opengl control user, there's no way suppress within program force-revert software-only modes in case of such issues...   mylenium More discussions in After Effects adobe
