Thread: Can't use (or open) Synaptic package manager suddenly. Help please?


hey humans,

past few days (week maybe) i've been getting the
" cannot upgrade- partial upgrade?" message
whenever run update manager.
no, , whatever updates allow,
leaves 1 or 2 things unchecked/un-updated/and un-able check them.

today,
attempt run synaptic package manager ,
, this~ what.jpg

don't know means,
, dont know how fix whatever can synaptic.

also, when run like. "sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade"
goes through packages, thing.. ends "some packages have failed.."

you'll notice in screenshot, left of weather indicator in top panel,
little (x) icon.
appeared today.

is/has gone awry, , i've no idea what.
i'm still ignorant fix myself.

can enlighten me, please?

hi, run these 2 commands , should fix problem.
code:
sudo rm /var/lib/apt/lists/* -vf
please use command written, , not use other files or wipe out system. remove damaged list , when run second command replace new list.
code:
sudo apt-get update
