Thread: Laptop or Netbook suggestions?

anyone have suggestions or tips laptop netbook in less $500 range run ubuntu well?

school stuff, have decent home computer, portable computer doesn't need herculean. want run lot of mathematics software though, little beyond browsing web,checking email, , word processing (but not demanding calculations, relatively light use of things octave, cas software, numpy, sort of thing.)

netbooks good? i've been looking @ linux netbooks, seem have lot of complaints in reviews, , maybe seem little inflexible if yo venture beyond software designed for. reviews range glowing invective laden (perhaps bad reviews people don't know doing?) there netbooks run ubuntu well? netbooks come xandros, don't know about. rather stay ubuntu flavor, i've been using long time.

suggestions? should looking for? last notebook had ancient hand-me-down dell latitude near turn of century, fortunately worked ubuntu! got lucky, don't know looking laptops.

appreciate tips if have them.

After Effect warning: A problem occurred when processing OpenGL commands

i have after effects cs6 in computer cs5.5 installed. 64bit windows 7 ultimate 20gb memory , 2 amd radeon hd 6900 series display adapters drivers updated hour ago (driver date 27.7.2012, version 8.982.0.0).   when trying use after ecffects, error message " after effect warning: problem occurred when processing opengl commands " when clicking composition window.   what done? not much, i'm afraid. need older graphics driver. other disable second card or play configuration. unfortunately not smart person decided cs6 no longer need manual opengl control user, there's no way suppress within program force-revert software-only modes in case of such issues...   mylenium More discussions in After Effects adobe
