Thread: Network Adaptor Drivers Problem?
hi,
totally new ubuntu. love it, looks rational, firm , sleek though uninstall it. it's been 7 hours connect internet, dozens of threads read , no result far.
problem: have old laptop (amilo pa 1510) , want have dual-boot ubuntu10.04 - windows xp start off using ubuntu. in xp have wireless internet connection, in ubuntu 10.04 can´t connect, no network signal, nothing @ all. there must problem drivers don´t understand what's wrong. have drivers cd don´t driver right one. installed several , in windows worked out. think network card broadcom 802.11g not sure either.
i've been trying follow thread https://help.ubuntu.com/community/wi...er/ndiswrapper don´t understand it. what's b43?what's atheros??? stuck @ first steps. tried ndiswrapper in syneptic package there's nothing there. is because installed ubuntu bootable usb instead cd? should make difference?
please, tell me commands need run ubuntu internet. afterwards able learn on own right have restart computer everytime try , after 7 hours unsuccesfully trying things on edge give up...

there commands can issue in terminal identify wireless card. once know that, can find out how activate rather quickly. please open terminal , run , post:strip away items not wireless card. if have broadcom, show pretty clearly. older broacom cards work pretty require proprietary firmware that's not included default.code:lspci -nn
able wired ethernet connection temporarily? if so, can select system > administration > additional drivers , offered install firmware automagically.
ndiswrapper method wrap windows xp driver , use in linux. in opinion, it's poor substitute using native driver , firmware.
