Thread: NFS mount produced circular links on Urix

i setting ubuntu server client runs rather old version of irix on sgi o2 machine (he uses design software not run on newer hardware).

version of irix can use nfs v2 or v3, setup exports file on ubuntu use nfs3. however, when file system mounted on irix, (including flat text files) mounted directory, i.e. in ubuntu directory mounted circular link its' self

after _much_ faffing about, found using nfs2 in exports file fixed problem, , client happy camper again.

have explanation this? i've never seen problem before, nor have found reference on net.

cannot person in world needs connect old unix systems?

/steve.

dear steve,

have same problem client. have old o2 machine , use it. not long time ago had old pc mandrake linux 9.2 , able connect o2 via nfs mount without problem. had put old mandrake machine away should connect o2 ubuntu machine can't

seems me, mounting ok (at least there not message concerning unsuccessful mount), after mounting cannot change directory mount point (the command prompt waits). i've tried mount ubuntu o2, too, same result. it's strange because can change directory mount point, subdirectories, cannot see (if type eg. ls nothing happens). exports files simple on both of systems, because there not important restrictions user uses , 2 machines wired temporarily.

i've read in message "using nfs2 in exports file fixed problem" don't know how can indicate in exports file, it's nfs2 version. off course i've "googled" subject , passed days solve problem without success. kind details solution?

lot: zsolt

ps.: sorry poor english
