Laptop specs for good LR 4 performance
my current computer sort of adequate running lr 4.1, all. computer 2.5 years old have been planning new 1 anyway, have held off because have seen many posts people have bought/built new, high spec computers , many of them have worse lr performance do. so, clearly, having high spec computer not mean better off. seems must careful , right combination works lr , doesn't have high spec. that's me.
i using win7-64 17.3" laptop i3-330m, 4gb, 500gb hd. changed 8gb couple of months ago, after month started getting tons of blue screens took new memory out , put old in , fine again. 8gb didn't seem lr 4.1 anyway since didn't notice performance difference. 4gb have never seen total memory usage lr , firefox (multiple open tabs) push memory usage past 85% of 4gb , more 70%. talking @ bottom of task manager window says, example:
processes: 75 cpu usage: 6% physical memory: 59%
if have pse 9 open on rare occasions short periods spikes 95%. never batch processing though. processing canon 60d, sony a700, olympus e-m5, , panasonic g3 raw files.
it seems bit of crapshoot these days lr 4 since see many people have high spec systems, of them have terrible performance problems. other people performance. wish adobe tell brands, model numbers, etc. need buy performance since see rather mid spec computers performance , better of high spec computers. seems there mysterious combinations of components lr likes , combinations doesn't like. 2.5 year old laptop, these days sort of low-mid spec, not bad lr 4 -- not bad of high spec people. don't want buy new, higher spec , discover lr worse it.
i want 17.3" laptop since need reasonably mobile because live part-time in various places. specs need make worthwhile make lr experience enough better worth trouble , money? don't need best, high-end, since have read many of computer have worse lr performance old one. i5? amd? ssd or hybrid hd?
also, know if lr works better under win8? new computers start having win8 on them fall.
i forgot mention that, of course, have read already:
