Thread: How to boot an USB stick with Ubuntu (live or installed) on a macbook
hi all,
i'm aware topic has been discussed several times, after reading lot of posts , followed many howto without success, hope find updated solution solve problem, writing new post.
have macbook black (2008 edition) , want boot ubuntu installed on usb stick (corsair voyager gt 16gb) on macbook.
reading online seems possibile not easly, have howto explains in detail and, above all, correctly? howto have followed don't work, during boot returns error "missing operating system" or similar.
guess problem due "structure" of usb flash drive, ie partition table , bootloader, not understand might right combination, example gpt efi partition, or mbr partition table primary fat partition must have bootloader installed (grub example), or other type of configurations...
of course installed refit on macbook, can read usb device @ startup, not enough boot usb drive, must configure in particular way, until have not managed do.
after many days of readings , tests, sincerely hope knows solution me.
thanks,
edoardo t.
