Thread: Such a big mess...
i decided upgrade 11.04.
reason, installation process froze during installation of 1 of fonts (i dont remember one), or "about 44 minutes" prior completion. waited hour , half, during fans of older gateway mt 6916 going @ full speed.
decided shut down , upon doing it, shut down menu (the 1 gives choices shut down, restart, etc.) came unreadable. knew click on , computer turned off.
happens when reboot it:
1. given choice of version of os boot, prior upgrade booting right up.
2. choose recovery mode of course (but same thing happens if choose normal boot...) , get
init:udevtrigger main process (387) terminated status 1
init: udevtrigger post-stop process (391) terminated status 1
init: udevmonitor main process (386) killed term signal
disk drive / not ready yet or not present
continue wait; or press s skip mounting or m manual recovery
after pressing s shows information hw present , start of running couple of scripts ( local-bottom , init-bottom)
ends following message @ bottom of screen:
mountall: plymouth command failed
mountall: disconnected plymouth
shut down pressing power button , repeat entire process. when time choose "m manual recovery", same thing on scree, exception of last 4 lines:
root filesystem check failed.
maintenance shell started.
control-d terminate shell , reboot system.
root@alienspecimen:~#
