Thread: user ID 1000 Fresh re-install Lucid ?

i performed fresh destructive install of ububtu 10.04.2 lts on insisting dual-boot installation of 10.04.1 lts , windows xp.

during install process setup utility recognized 2 existing users "administrator" , "paul".

error message received there "broken package state" /usr/bin/dpkg, install completed restarted system , booted "repair" option in grub menu.

did repair packages s advised there 3 new packages install (linux-headers 2.6.32-32, linux (generic) 2.6.32-32 , linux-image 2.6.32-32.

there 131 updates install well. proceeded update , seems have gone well.

question:
during install process asked "name" , accept or modify machine name. used first name - paul.

when go in manage users & groups, paul user listed , user id 1000, if remember correctly gives me administrative privileges. easiest way correct this?

assuming should have selected name "administrator" during install, setup additional lower level user "paul" normal use.

have done nothing else @ point, if easy me clean re-install , update using "administrator" initial user.

suggestions appreciated.

cheers

i'd you're fine. user id 1000 in machines.

if want create additional unprivileged user (so he's unable run sudo) can command "adduser", or "users , groups" gui in admin menu.
