Writing an IP Blockers for Joomla 2.5 - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support

hi.

i'm migrating large number of sites joomla 1.5 → 2.5 , have used ip filter component time says on tin.

i insert ip or range , bingo, blocked. particularly useful countries or individuals use brute force attacks.

i can't find want in joomla 2.5:
• block ip // range both site , admin
• redirect user

i'm familiar php , mysql not mvc , although have played "hello world" tutorial need is:

• present text box in admin backend lists of ips (one per line) or range of ips
• allow these edited
• have these ips filtered upon page load (either front or backend) , redirect accordingly

i jumi , hand coding , present menu item allowing admin edit wanted have crack @ writing first component.

am asking of myself...? willing help...?
