[mod note: split topic http://forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?f=622&t=771034 separate thread. please not hijack else's thread.]
just clarify not running wampserver 2 , / or skype @ same time identified on original thread?
otherwise issue solely that cannot connect database during installation of joomla?
is mysql database started?
are database details entering joomla following:
assuming have not altered xampp security settings after installation screen shot suggests have not done.
type = mysqli
host = localhost
user = root
password = (blank, nothing, nada, empty field)
database name = (whatever want be)
database table prefix = (the default random value provided installation or own choice. must end underscore e.g. prefix_).
for database name , table prefix, only use letters, numbers, hyphen, , underscore. never use spaces or special characters.
remember unix based systems/programs (which includes apache/mysql/php et al) require case sensitivity adhered so, help is different help is different help)
