Help Sifting Through Various Development Styles

i have cs4 , basic self educated understanding of css, html, & programs dw, fw, ps, & ai.  these top notch programs @ disposal & addiction learning new things i've decided design custom website office.

so far i've followed of david powers tutorials on here & have been able make pretty cut & dry web pages through hand coding.  hoping make more detailed & modern one.  through google searches found recommendations of designing page in ps & cutting , saving html & images load right dw & rollover images.  screenshot of desing can seen here http://d.pr/i/ga7y & http://d.pr/i/qqm (rollover).  problem in dw feel code more unfamiliar work & have read comments saying technique isn't final products.

i'm kind of stuck right wondering if should start on & if where?  want site looks screenshots, has coding managable, , can great seo.

well first, david's tutorials prefer 1 showing people how go fw or ps dw.  tutorial in fw, if have basic understanding of photoshop should able translate easily.

that part 1 of 3 part tutorial.

as experienced developer when @ proposed layout see header, footer, menu bar, content area , possibly image area on pages.  have 1 repeating background image sliced out @ 10x10px , repeated.  difficult part see menu bar.  recommend staying away menu bars have rounded corners on ends.  or if are, consider doing away images , use css container around menu has rounded corners.  makes things easier , neater.

the last thing say, bury thought of seo right now.  if worried seo, website fail.  worry target audience , getting code validates ( http://validator.w3.org ).  if can reach target audience , have code, can start worry seo.  many companies try sell seo end-all/be-all of websites , if that's have going website exposed fraud is.
