Maximize Compatibility vs QuickLook in Mac OS X

i found out quicklook in mac os x doesn't work psd documents if file saved without maximize compatibility feature. if press space bar, white canvas appears , not actual document. don't want use feature because don't need compatibility , files smaller without it. however, work lot of psd files used use quicklook lot. there way have maximize compatibility disabled , @ same time able use previews quicklook? thank you.
