Site migration to localhost for testing - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support

i can't life of me figure out why difficult. have done many times before little trouble reason can't site load content , on correct template.

- copied files local dir.
- backed db , imported on local version of phpmyadmin
- tables checkout, prefix correct

when write in correct info config file not connect. tried using joomla installer , going through process. connects db (same exact info typed in) have standard joomla site. try updating tables error. when use installer connect db imported tables live site seems add bak number of tables , results in standard install of joomla. none of plugin in lists, no content, no menus... nothing.

it has been while since have done reading , finding basic installation instructions. trying akeeba backup right on such old version of joomla don't think work either. i'm on 1.5.25 fyi.

please figure out why not working.

on localhost using servers such xampp , wamp server.

it not clear whether have changed table/db prefix in file configuration.php.

hope have change hostname , database names reflect database having on localhost.

the default username database root , username not have password. if using other username database, have make sure username has been granted privileges in database.
