Thread: Installation on CF Flash disk fails, errno5
greetings,
time now, have been attempting install linux on 16 gb kingston cf disk. using cheap cf-sata adapter in laptop.
however, every time attempt install operating system (ubuntu, followed arch linux, followed mint), install fails 7/8 of way through, errno 5.code:the installer encountered error copying files hard disk: [errno 5] input/output error particular error due faulty cd/dvd disk or drive, or faulty hard disk. may clean cd/dvd, burn cd/dvd @ lower speed, clean cd/dvd drive lens (cleaning kits available electronics suppliers), check whether hard disk old , in need of replacement, or move system cooler environment.
following this, ran sudo fsck -y /dev/sda1 , produced many errors reasonable, samples of take following types of forms (however in multitude):
code:inode 156427 ref count 2, should 1. fix? yes unattached inode 156428 connect /lost+found? yescode:inode 16144 part of orphaned inode list. fixed. inode 9567 has bad extended attribute block 56569. clear? yes inode 9567, i_blocks 2097153, should 0. fix? yescode:entry '..' in /???/#263360 (263360) has deleted/unused inode 11. clear? yescode:setting filetype entry '..' in ??? (262446) 2. directory inode 262449, block #0, offset 0: directory corrupted salvage? yes missing '.' in directory inode 262449. fix? yes
errors become fixed. reappear when try install operating system again. however, unable install operating system on cf drive.
not sure if there remedy this; not sure wrong. appreciate can give!
