Thread: portable hard drive read-only filesystem

i have portable hard drive works fine on work windows 7 computer.

did clean install of xubuntu 10.04 on 3rd computer , drive worked fine 30 seconds - able write file drive in time. entire drive read-only.

note - files , folders give read-write access it's filesystem marked read-only.

can tell me what's going on? it's not hardware issue (works on windows), it's not software issue (same behaviour on entirely new linux). must setting on drive yes?

can me trick linux thinking can permanently write drive?

would post contents of 2 files:
/etc/fstab
/etc/mtab
grabbing them (1) (read-only) , (2) after fresh reboot , (after reboot complete) reattachment of drive.
