Thread: Upgrading help.

i'm attempting install web applications require me update php amoung other things on our server, i'm unable upgrade native ubuntu os, unable following reasons.
i've never used ubuntu, i've used centos.
on new venture great,

root@:~# sudo apt-get install update-manager-core
reading package lists... done
building dependency tree
reading state information... done
packages not installed. may mean have
requested impossible situation or if using unstable
distribution required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of incoming.

since requested single operation extremely that
package not installable , bug report against
package should filed.
following information may resolve situation:

following packages have unmet dependencies.
update-manager-core: depends: python-apt (>= 0.7.4ubuntu5) not going installed
e: broken packages
root@:~# sudo apt-get install python
reading package lists... done
building dependency tree
reading state information... done
python newest version.
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 remove , 0 not upgraded.
root@:~#

try fix broken package:

sudo apt-get -f install

also idea bring system up-to-date:

code:

sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

and read upgrade notes , release notes:
www.ubuntu.com/download/ubuntu/upgrade
www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/releasenotes
