Using data from the db in my webpage

hi,

 

this super simple question, apologize in advance. i've looked through lot info on bc , can't seem find answer question (although lot of seems go on head complete n00b @ bc , feel hands tied without being able whip in python or php!).

 

i trying create webpage display single product (the entire website exists 1 product), , user can click on different color swatches customize it. client (website owner) able add new colors (using hex code) different parts of product.

 

so need place client can enter in these values, , can write them page in javascript format, , build dynamic page using javascript.

 

it seemed way create new "web app" inside of bc. did that, , created "web app item" called "data". under "data", added "item field" called "color", multi-line text area. entered in few different hex codes this:

ffffff

003366

 

(i figured can parse out lines js)

 

the problem coming across though, how data source code on webpage? created webpage , put code in it:

{module_webapps,6042,a,}

 

but displays list of links, link "data", , if click on "data" go separate web page says "data" on it. strange.

 

is there possible way can data entered here source of webpage? (or there better way this?)

 

as more general question... it's how use bc cms , have custom fields can access in web page. kind of wordpress' advanced custom fields plugin, if familiar that. (i know isn't wordpress, way can access values client has entered in)

you may better off use ecommerce , assign different attributes colors?
