Feedback - is this even possible in Joomla? - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support

i going ditch web design last year after many years of digital life , go outside change, found in end should count blessings had skills.

my modus op using frontpage, kompozer , designing in tables, followed joomla, , customising templates others in joomla , elsewhere. loved working in flash

since returning fray have been learning code hand in html5 , css3. have long suffering musician friend/client needs site sorted now.
i designed site based on 1280 x 800 fixed size non-scrolling layout.

it has been long tough haul coding scratch there in end. problem take long me learn responsive - need him on line asap - have decided head joomla , see if can find responsive template work with.

i using themekat.com template called engina - based on yootheme.com framework called warp.

looking @ modules thought fit site's homepage - sidebar/logo/featured/nav/rhs_text/footer structure modules, finding blind alley far. rest of site more trad in has logo , header area nav - though nav image based not sure if can in joomla also.

i have followed links demo sites musos , found 1 has large image on left , logo on same level - has been done putting image in background.

i hoping have 100% background image also, lh module has own transparent b/g, logo sits right of that.

then have mid column vertically stacked modules featured cd , idea in making introduce navigation image based iconic "steampunkish" elements. text - cheating @fontface text done in flash -its image not text - know has ditched orright orright! : )

ok that's long post, sorry, feels share crowd know talking if haven't nodded off yet.

so question is, possible have sidebar dominant element @ head of joomla template? it's own module own transparent bg element?
then have logo butting against on rhs.

and how stack elements , down in midcolumn there?
then stuff on right link blog/gig listings etc

the image based navigation - challenge in mobile i'm - trying come make work

the missing element slideout audio player - called offscreen canvas or isn't it? bit reverb-nation player if familiar that.

i haven't been able find way allows me have dominant image on lhs top position, grid of 4 items right, sort of 3 column design second 2 columns dropped down let logo go top. mid column has 2 vertical divs or modules in it. footer.
