My latest bug report

 

adjustment panel fly-out menu options.

adjustment panel added photoshop in cs4 , 2 of fly-out menu options seem more problem useful.

 

these options are:

"add mask default" adobe checked option default

"clip layer" adobe un-checks option default

 

the adobe sets theirs defaults current version of photoshop work way versions of photoshop prior cs4 behaved. when adjustments layers added document added layer mask. additionally adjustment layers added un-clipped default user had option clip adjustment layer being added in new adjustment layer dialog. there no way users change photoshop default behavior prior cs4.

 

the biggest problem these options not work advertised, stated.

 

for example if un-check "add mask default" , add , adjustment layer when there no active selection adjustment layer added without layer mask. there active selection adjustment layer addled layer mask. when action contain make adjustment layer steps played make adjustment layer steps work same way. no indicator in action steps there should or should not layer mask. when there no active selection make adjustment layer steps play way panel option set, when there active selection layer mask added adjustment layer no matter how option "add mask default" set.

 

for example if check "clip layer" , add adjustment layer clipped layer. if play action have make adjustment layer clipped. if un-check "clip layer" , play actions contain make adjustment layer step of adjustment layer clipped make adjustment layer action steps have indicator layer should clipped.

 

i not know if solution can found these problems. action should play recorded. while there , indicator indicate adjustment layer should or should not clipped in make adjustment layer not followed when option "clip layer" checked or not checked. there no indicator in make adjustment layer action steps there should or should not layer mask. no matter how option "add mask default" set if there active selection layer mask included.

 

it has been pointed out adobe employee users not know these option exist or if know these exist don't use them. can blame them these options seem cause problems.

 

perhaps time remover these options , go in time before cs4, cs5 , cs6 add adjustments layers added layer mask default. time users had no problem adding , record adding adjustment layers un-clipped or clipped. time when photoshop worked correctly.

somehow ended clip layer inadevertently set default other day.  think it's because used button in properties panel clip adjustment layer layer below.

 

interestingly, had trouble finding option uncheck.

 

turns out option still in fly out menu adjustments panel, though button used in properties panel.

 

therefore bug got incrementally worse, compounded fact adobe moved things around , created new properties panel.

 

 

 

i don't think adobe cares fix this, jj, shame.  once cared details.
